  • Hats off to The Greatest Generation.

  • Thunderbolts are as tough as old nails! They can certainly take a heap of punishment!

  • Thunderbolts get all the glory when it comes to toughness against battle damage. Some would argue that a Corsair was just as good.

  • Where did you get this? Was it a set??

  • I have this video at home and I know exactly the scene you are talking about. Very disturbing...

  • I also have the full video.its a fantastic film, realy gets into you.Its on the same video as The memphis belle in colour, also fantastic.

Yes the sight of the poor pilot pulled from the wreckage is still disturbing all these years later.

  • I've got the full video, it's a story about a squadron P47's operating from Sicily in order to cut off the supply's to the German troops in Italy. The thing not shown in this particular footage is the recovering of the unfortunate pilot who is totally charred and dragged from this burning P47 with hooks... pretty disturbing sight despite the fact that this event occurred more than 60 years back....

  • very nice footage

  • at 00:17 that guy is a good pilot to belly land and not crash

  • Thanks for hosting the response.
