Soldiers in Ecuador have rescued President Rafael Correa from a police hospital where he was being held by force. The troops opened fire on dissident law enforcement officers. A state of emergency has been declared in the country following police protests against new government austerity measures, which would cut their benefits. Eva Golinger, an expert on Latin America, says the uprising may not have been spontaneous. She claims the revolt is strongly backed by business and political elements both inside and outside Ecuador.

  • @Antonio33s YOU'RE AN IGNORANT FUCKIN REPUBLICAN, JUST ANOTHER KU KLUX KLAN MEMBER.

HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING IN ECUADOR, SO HE WRITES JUST THE SAME AND THE SAME OLD STUPID THING.

ECUADOR WAS GOVERNED BY THIEVES WHO HID THEMSELVES BEHIND A CAPITALIST IMAGE, THEY MADE AWAY WITH 2200 BILLION DOLLARS, THE ISAIAS ARE STILL BEING PROTECTED BY THE RULES OF USA, THEY'RE WANTED IN ECUADOR TO PAY FOR IT.

  • Correa was NEVER HELD BY FORCE! As a matter of fact, Correa has JAILED hospital director Carrion and says Carrion was not letting him enter the hospital!

As per the hospital director, and hospital doctors and patients, Correa as asked TO LEAVE several times.

Correa was surrounded by his guards, held meetings with his people, made phone calls announcing his "kidnapping," and issued orders.

    Obviously, he was NOT KIDNAPPED.

Pretend "Coups" is what Marxist thugs do to intimidate people.

  • The best president of Ecuador: Rafael Correa. Politics does not interest people. People want democracy, quality in social services, highways, free education, respect for workers, general development!! and Correa has given us all of that!! long Life to President Correa!!

  • Viva el presidente CORREA viva ECUADOR

    Y vIvA LatinoAMEricA

  • @petto15 (El Telégrafo, PP El Verdadero, and El Ciudadano), magazines (La Onda, El Agro, Valles, and Samborondón), and a news agency (Agencia Pública de Noticias del Ecuador y Suramérica).

According to President Correa, "terrorists" are those opposing Ecuador's development. In Ecuador, "terrorists" are indigenous peoples from the Amazon and the Andean highlands fighting to preserve access to water in their communities.

  • @petto15: Correa's government took over two private television stations, TC Televisión and Gama TV. At the time, Correa promised his administration would sell the media assets to recover money owed to Ecuadorans. He never fulfilled his promise. In the next three years, the state media consists of several TV stations (TC Televisión, Gama TV, Ecuador TV, cable stations CN3 & CD7), radio stations (Radio Pública de Ecuador, Radio Carrousel, Radio Super K 800, and Radio Universal), newspapers.....

  • @petto15 ok...Teleamazonas, in Quito was off the air for 3 days in 2009 after running a story about the effects of natural gas exploration on the local fishing industry. The Correa administration has repeatedly forced individual broadcasters to air lengthy government rebuttals to critical news reports. Over the course of Correa’s tenure, the administration has created an elaborate legal framework to restrict news media.

  • @SouthernCOBoy ok... probably i am wrong ... could you tell me wich TV or radio station he has shut down .... and his reasons for doing that..?

  • @petto15 I do not know what part of Ecuador your living in, apparently your not watching any TV. On one of Correa's weekly TV shows he said on TV that the Indigenous people are terrorists. The indigenous people have been to Quito many times to discuss mining, and water rights where they live! A google search will give you more info! Correa has in fact shut down TV and Radio stations that disagree with his policies. and he is attempting to shut down the newspaper in Guayaquil! I live in Ecuador!

  • @SouthernCOBoy hahaha ....Correa has closed TV, RADIO AND NEWSPAPER...??? Thats a lie .... i live in ecuador and thats not true..... also you talk about indigenous people fiigting for their water and president calling them terrorist ... Thats another lie.... please dont speak without knowing the real situation of my country

  • @alexman24893 Correa's has been closing TV stations, radio stations, and now newspapers that disagree with his government. He has created his own TV channel and everyday talks and shows the party line. Correa isn't exploiting his countries resources? Indigenous people are supposed to have water and land rights, but now he calls them terrorists because they are fighting for their water? What about oil in Yasuni? No 100 Billion fund and he is going to drill anyway!!!
