This mechanism was installed as part of the 1912 renovations of this ancient Grammar School. It replaced the former clock mechanism taken from the ancient market hall demolished in 1848-1850 from the centre of North Street, Ashburton. One of the three clock faces (facing south) is reputed to be the original clock face from the Old Market. The tower is only open for Heritage Open Days which in 2011 is 10 & 11 Sept.
