Photos I took during 2007 of insects and arachnids found mainly in West Devon & East Cornwall during the summer of 2007. Nothing particularly rare but a record of what was around (at least that didn't fly off before I could take a picture !). And some music. Please help me with unidentified species or correct me if I've got any wrong ! They are:

Cardinal beetle (pyrochroa serraticornis - the one with a red head); Oil Beetle (meloe proscarabeus); Unknown beetle - please help!; Silver Washed Fritillary (unconfirmed)?; Unidentified butterfly paying visit to hand; Speckled wood butterfly; Large skipper; marbled white; peacock; red admiral; unidentified - fritillary ?; unidentified moth or buttlerfly - not sure please help!; burnett moth; speckled yellow moth with damage to wing?; silver ground carpet moth; broad bodied cahser (female) Libellula depressa ?; broad bodied cahser (male); common darter; golden ringed dragonfly; unidentified damselfly; common blue damselfly (male); buff tailed bumble bee?; unidentified water nymph - some kind of water beetle maybe?; caddisfly larvae - not sure what type...; adult caddisflies mating (not sure what type); unidentified cricket - very small with attractive coffee coloured back; dark bush cricket (I'm guessing here); grasshopper - stumped again !; cranefly / daddylonglegs; ENORMOUS hoverfly - though perfectly harmless I understand - volucella zonaria; unknown hoverfly; unidentified fly; unidentified hoverfly; sawfly larvae ?; unidentified sawfly; harvestman; garden orb spider; green orb spider; unidentified spider; bristletail

  • Very nice indeed. Many of those images are absolutely stunning. I quite liked the music, what was it please?

  • Thanks for your comment. All pics taken with an olympus u700 - was quite pleased with the results for a little pocket camera! Music was something I put togther myself - not really my usual style but thought it kind of went okay with these pics, so glad you quite liked it !

  • A fantastic video!

Could you please give me a name of the soundtrack..

  • Hi, I think the music went very well!!!

might be able to help with the ID of some of them... the Silver Washed Fritillary is right....the one on hand is probably a Gatekeeper, or a Small Heath... the unidentified fritillary is a Painted Lady .. the moth with the damaged wing might be a Magpie Moth.... the Damsel fly (green one) looks like a female Banded Demoiselle... hope this helps!

  • Nice shots...

  • purday!
