Okay, little ones you must learn something. Ali got his boxing license took away when he refused to the army induction. He lost it for two years, he then got it back and this was his first boxing match, He would have won if he was able to keep boxing those two years.

This was not in fact his first bout after getting his license back, it was his third. "Would have" means nothing. Joe Frazier won this fight. He wanted it more and he got it. And I say that as a major fan of the great Ali.

Madbull: Laoff was 3.2 years, he fought 18 full rds prior to this fight vs 2 top 10 HVW contenders - KO'ng them both. Gave Quarry cuts needing 16 deep sutures & dominated Bonavena 12-2 going into 15, flooring him 3x's. ALI said in TWO i-views b4 Frazier tht he ws a "much better, stronger fighter than I was". He proved it - Frazier proved NO Ali version cld've beat him on 3/8/71.

Wrong, he lost his license in 1967, he had 3 1/2 years to get ready for this fight. Don't take anything away from Frazier, he deserved this win fair and square. Frazier was the better man this night.

And, MadBull, you are a fucking imbecile. Watch 2 interviews Ali gave b4/after Quarry 1 in which he states he i"a much better, much stronger fighter than I was". One posted by "primeboxers" & the other by "MuhammadChampAli". Enjoy & get enlightened. NO version of Ali beats THIS 3/8/71 Frazier. Pre-67' wld hve gotten beat worse as his strength level vis a vis 71' is comparitively dimished, rendering his shots vs Frazier less damaging.

I remember watching this on NBC back in the early 90's. Great fight!! Nobody beats Joe on this night! What a tough fight for Ali so early in his comeback!

for fuck sake, pay a little respect. Nobody is argueing who is the best. Frazier is a legend of this sport, the most important fight of his life, were two, he won against Ali in the first and lost against Cancer two years ago. RIP Smokin' Joe.
Ali is the greatest, everybody knows that. But don't call the guy "Nothing". A little respect for the dead please.
