Violence Against Men - The Unspoken Reality

Both men and women are presented with equal opportunities in western society and with the equal ability to have short tempers and mental conditions, why is it so widely accepted that any domestic violence is by default instigated by the man?

You've heard all the TV ads about violence against women, I couldn't count them with all the fingers on my hand, yet I have NEVER seen anything about violence against men.

Should it not be... VIOLENCE AGAINST ANYONE??? I ask, is it unmanly for a man to be beaten by his female spouse? What does that say about him? What does that say about her? If a man defends himself and happens to cause an injury to the woman and she decides to report it... would he not automatically be presumed the guilty party? If a man does not retaliate to such violence from a woman, what does that say about him? Is he weak?... Is he strong? What if he'd been tought to treat women with respect, and that men should never hit women?

Maybe he is not weak, maybe he shows real values and understands the consequences, maybe... just maybe if women are capable of equal tasks in everyday life as their male counterparts, maybe it's possible that woman can be at fault too. Remember that violence against women is unacceptable, but what about... Violence Against Men - I SAY NO... Do you?

I will physically assault any and all women if they physically assault me first. My reason for this is the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated. If my spouse were to hit me, as a man I have no problem hitting her back. However, I will never be the first one to hit a woman. If she doesn't give me a reason to hit her, then I will never hit her. however, the second she lays a hand on me, even if its a slap, she deserves to be hit back. Period

Violence against men in a relationship is equally as tragic as it is Men against women. but sadly the statistics show women being more at risk. it may be due to the perception that Man is meant to traditionally look after the woman. Men are meant to be the stronger sex. Women more nurturing. I have no doubt that women can be at fault too, maybe it just comes down to one taking the other for granted.

I totally agree with you steve about that violence no matter who its against should be equally punished but unfortunately the powers that be do not look at it that way. I watched a video about sexual abuse perpetrated by women against boys its also an unspoken thing that happens and is not dealt with equally.

In my country (Brazil), it's actually not considered rape if a woman forces a man to have sex with her...I find that quite unfair :P even though the odds of that happening are really small, lol.
