big bang test - The missing link
If critics are to be believed, the end of the universe will begin on Wednesday 10-Sept-2008 when a Welsh miner's son launches the world's biggest scientific experiment to know how the universe was born.
The well-known Welshman physicist, Lyn Evans, dubbed Evans the Atom, will this week switch on a giant particle accelerator designed to unlock the secrets of the Big Bang.
On Wednesday, Evans will fire up the Large Hadron Collider, a 17-mile-long doughnut-shaped tunnel that will smash sub-atomic particles together at nearly the speed of light.
Built by the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), the collider lies beneath the French-Swiss border, near the institution's headquarters in Geneva, at depths ranging from 170 feet to 600 feet.
The aim of the 4.4 billion-pound (over $7.7 billion) experiment is to recreate the conditions that existed a fraction of a second after the Big Bang - the birth of the universe - and provide vital clues to the building blocks of life.
It will track the spray of particles thrown out by collisions in a search for the elusive Higgs Boson, a theoretical entity that supposedly lends weight, or mass, to the elementary particles. So important is this mysterious substance that it has been called the "God Particle".
I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it.

We know that the universe is expanding, so you can infer at one point in time it was a singularity. However, it could also just be a cycle of the big bang to the big crunch back to another big bang.

@mikebe41 I was awake yesterday in bed thinking of that thing.... and God it was the best thought ever.... ah don't make me get into that "high on awesomness of the universe" state again!

think about this, if it was a big bang, there had to be 2 things who crashed on eachother, 2 BIG things! i believe this whole universe looks very different than we see!

It is ludicrous to have to believe in a beginning and an end. Time is relative to our perceiving it. There have been infinite beginnings and ends and there will be infinite beginnings and ends.

If you look at the universe, human kind has never created anything, he has always manipulated what God made, what had been made from before
there is an Entity which has created or caused the big bang, nothing happens by itself, it either needs something to trigger that.

So I`m changing blueprints in real-time. That means, my curent action is changing original blueprint (changing the past). So when I will learn everything there is to be learnt about this universe, there will be also "red" button finished, waiting to be pushed. When I push it, I will start new universe and the old one (I`m living in now) will be "finished".
We are all creators and creations at the same time. Ergo... time....is ....only ....now.

If universe is still in the "becoming" phase, then the "red" button is still not finished. It has to be completed first (red button), to be pushed and universe to be started. So we are still trying to make one "red" button (trying to understand how our universe works) to be pushed, when finished and thus the universe we arealready living in will be created.
Connondrum. At the same time I`m learning the secrets of the universe and universe is changed by my action (learning).
