Sylvia was an artist. There are only a few younger singers who can do this sort of thing. Minelli could have done this thing, years ago. Barrowman can do this also. If she could have sung English well enough, Zara Leander could have done it also.

She is like Mabel Mercer, half singing half talking, and superb and sublime whatever the condition of her voice. In French this kind of singer is called a "diseuse."

Sad to see how her singing ability degenerated in her final years. Have been listening to a lot of her lately and for many years she was an amazing singer.
