Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST (Track 16)

Lyrics (written by "troy"):
"Where all the colors are
Ocean
The silent ocean knows
Your face
Your reality

Haven't been the same lately
Wonder could it be a lack of devotion?

Seeing in monochrome
Who taught you emotions
Who taught you emotions

Feel
Can you feel
Might be why colors disappear

The place we call our soul
Ocean
The cyber ocean sees
Your dreams
Your totality

Nothing stays the same
Someday
I hope you will make more lasting connections

Feeling in monochrome
Who taught you emotions
Who taught you emotions

See
Can you see
Colors that the ocean offers

Be
Can you be
Something more than black, white and gray

Being in monochrome
Who taught you emotions
Who taught you emotions..."

Based on the second episode ("Night Cruise") of GITS: SAC 2nd GIG.

  • is it me, of does it sound like doors are opening and closing in the background? I like the song, but the door sounds are killing me. Very distracting.

  • Answers to this comment deleted. Sorry, no space here for meaningless personal quarrels. Disliking something is an opinion as well, so please respect that and don't answer with insults.

Actually it was a bit distracting for me too when I first put attention to it (which was pretty late since I was always so blown away ;)), but I really can't imagine anything more fitting for the song's theme, since it adds a lot of discomposure to the dominating melancholy. Never thought of doors though :D.

  • Just the photo you have up to accompany the music is powerful. It makes you think about how difficult and straining it is for one like Gino to go on with life, bottling up false pasts and striving for some form of acceptance from others. Combat battles last for hours, days, weeks; But the scars are permanent.

    I agree with n64314.

  • Absolutely.

The whole scene was pretty powerful to me. It seemed like all his desires finally became reachable, but yet everything was still so distant.

Pretty good comments here, browsing through them really makes me smile. Music is such a wonderful way of communication. :)

  • for ne1 who knows, can you post the lyricist's name

  • Sure, edited! :)

  • In a way a lot of people today are just like him. Living out their fantasies in there heads and never making any attempt to put them in to action. Maybe not to his extent like mentally creating a false past for himself or thinking about carrying out an assassination plot but deep down inside we all thirst for recognition and acceptance.

  • @freezerbabies

I'm the very same way. It's the same SFX used in older video games. My brain picks up on it straight away and takes me out of the song. Too bad, as it's really lovely other wise.

  • @Devilsky756 yep

  • eargasm. that is all.

  • @n64314 Wow, i never though of it like that after seeing this episode. Thank you for enlightening me.

  • the door sound is actually a mechanical keyboard sound

  • MONOKUROMUUUUUAAAH

  • @freezerbabies Haha. When I hear the door sound, I think of someone logging off of AIM.

  • @freezerbabies Same here. I always stand the door sounds supposing there's any deep meaning in them lol

  • @freezerbabies Yeah I was thinking the same thing lol.
