Australian Witchcraft

A film concerning 'those down under' to excuse the pun. I find it particularly interesting that Australian witches dance anti clockwise to us in the UK. Its not that they are satanic in anway its just their polarity is the opposite to us in the northern hemisphere. I guess the sun rises in the west nand sets in the east. Am I right?

Because deosil is the celtic word for clockwise and the sun appears to move counter clockwise from the southern hemisphere. Therefore they dance tuathail (or widdershins).

No the sun, moon, planets and stars all rise in the east just like in the nothern hemisphere. What is reversed are the seasons. When we are having Yule, they are having Summer Solstice. Most southern Pagans celebrate the 8 Sabbats at opposite dates on the calendar though in the same order as northern Pagans. I do not know why they are dancing widdershins. Perhaps as a banishing ritual or perhaps it is just a feature of their tradition.
