The Brothers Four were just as equal, if not more talented than the Kingson Trio, maybe didn't get the pubicity, or, "it's not what you know, it's who you know" factor...Just listen to to their voices, can you get more perfect than that?

Love it so much! I'm 43 years old and my daughter loves it too! That's because my dad brought me up with their music, know all of their songs...Love, love love!! HARMONIOUS BLISS!!!!! Hey, remember "mule skinner blues" by them? I would say it's the best version I've ever heard! GOOD MORNIN CAPTIN'

Awesome!

In case anyone's interested, the banjo playing on this was done by Eric Weissberg.

Thankfully the Brothers Four (still led by bassist Bob Flick) persevere to the present day. They released the CD Golden Anniversary in late 2010 in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the release of their first album. And they sound as great as ever!

@salinagrrrl69 Definitely isn't him--Beck wasn't born until the year after.

Is that Peter Breck AKA Nick Barkley saying "Take Two" at 1:37?
WV Holler B,
Sonny, I know this is gona' to come as a shock to ya" -- the Bros. Four is a folk group, not a Bluegrass band. Folk groups sing "oldtime" folk songs!
They chose to sing this song in pleasant harmonious tones.
They were not trying to emulate that "high lonesome sound" (or discordant nasal whine) so prevalant among amateur Bluegrass "wantabes".
That is, the Bros, Four did not feel compelled to render the song as a 2nd rate imitation of Bill Monroe!
Get it!
