  • hahaha..... going to work every morning at 200mph RESPECT!! Id love to meet this guy a bet he's absolutely crackers! imagine doin that down the M6 every morning with shirt and tie on...., youd be spending the rest of your life in prison.

  • @jonnykemp11285 - I did meet the owner who that story is attributed to.

Dr Thomas Bscher was a German banker and used to commute from his home in Cologne to his office in Frankfurt every morning at speeds over 200mph.

I met him in 2006 when he was President of Bugatti Automobilia during the launch of the Veyron.

He's also one of just a few men we have to thank for pressuring McLaren to go racing with the F1 and he competed in the GTRs over 4 seasons with a lot of success.

  • @Peloton25 eh? are you for real, as if i give a shit about his history or if youv met him. i said it in a figure of speech

  • @jonnykemp11285 - I am absolutely for real, and I know it was a figure of speech.

I just thought it was funny that you said "I'd love to mee this guy..." and I was thinking, what do you know, I have. :-)

  • @jonnykemp11285 This guy I don't remember his name, but I remember that he was one of the directors of BMW in that time. He crashed his F1 in 1993 on autobahn (ironically) at speed 150mph an of course survived (shows how safe car is), and instantly placed an order and buy another one.

  • @Mercedes600SEL - Bernd Pischetsrieder was the man you're thinking of - at the time he was the Chairman of BMW, then went on to work for VW as well for quite a while.

The F1 he destroyed in 1995 did not belong to him and was essentially a company car that belonged to BMW AG. The chassis number is presumed to be #010 and it was replaced with chassis #047 which lives today in the BMW Classics Collection museum in Munich along with two F1 GTRs - #18R and #26R - that both wear the FINA livery.

  • There was another man who wrecked a different F1 in Germany the same week as BP. It was he who returned the car to Woking and asked them to build him a replacement instead of fixing it. The crashed F1 in this case is believed to be #033 and the replacement was #040.

It isn't known what happened to the remains of the original car in this case. McLaren believed that it could be repaired and its certainly possible that it was, but it hasn't surfaced in all the time I have been tracking them.

  • @Peloton25 wow what a great story any other little tidbits about him you would think it would be interesting for others to know about this man and how he drove this car ?

  • @Peloton25

Great insight into some history about the different specific cars. Thanks!

  • @Peloton25 maybe they put it in a time capsule for people to discover in the year 6000. They'll be like 'wow these guys knew how to engineer this when they were still fighting over religion? Strange...'

  • 10000 quid for a big service. What a bargain compared to a Veyron.

  • my m8 live next to Ron Dennis who has 1 of these
