  • You're welcome - that means it worked. I hope that it helps people facing valve replacement surgery to understand what is done.

  • This video was extremely educating. I will pose this video for use within TUDelft Biomedical engineering, where this subject is covered as well, if this is ok for you.

  • I have had aortic and mitral valve replacement with tissue valves at the age of 50 and 52. Just had cardiac check-up and the valves are doing great, it has been almost 10 yrs and I am having no problems. Am still wondering how long they will last. I have been given many different time frames, would love to know if anyone has any more information on life spans of tissue valves.

  • This video has put my mind at rest a little bit. It's my nan who is undergoing a valve replacement in the next few weeks. Im still a little bit worried about it, but atleast now i know what is going to be happening and abit more about how the heart works etc.

Thank you for uploading this :)

  • Thanks for that explanation and introduction as I am due to have the aortic valve replaced soon. This had made me feel a bit better about the procedure.

  • i just had a mitral valve replacement (mechanical) a week ago. I'm still recovering and in pain especially on my back. Breathing is a lot better now.

  • If you have a mechanical heart valve and have trouble sleeping, but you don't want to

use drugs to sleep - you can purchase a psychoacoustic audio recording with the title

    "Heartbeat River" at cdbaby.com.

  • Great explanation--Great Video!! Just wonder why he doesn't have a mask on when the patient is in the room...?

  • @SGolaszewski - mechanical

  • Thank you! My beloved one had this operation 2 years ago, the surgery lasted for 14 hours, done by 3 major doctors of the clinic, and, since then, the valve ticking has been my most favorite sound.
