@ndaniel1997 Actually, the British and American armies experimented with sticky grenades (on the end of a pole). Problem was, they would sometimes stick to the back of the person's uniform when cocked to throw, so they were done away with.

Are they fucking stupid?

Have a release mechanism, similar to that of a "pineapple" grenades.

When the person releases the sticky feature of the grenade is applied, therefore no sticking to uniforms.

@ndaniel1997 No, it requires a heatsource to stick. It's activated by the first heatsource (the SPARTAN's hand) and detonates after attaching to and sensing the secondary heatsource (an unsuspecting Elite, for example).
