Oh that guy was shot in the leg? Lets put in a slow-mo shot of his leg bone shattering because the audience is too stupid to figure out that getting shot in the leg might in fact hurt
Showing the audience a great amount of detail isn't really forbidden, it's more of a silly waste of the audiences time. That's why most GOOD Directors avoid showing the audience absurd amounts of useless details.
