The British pianist, composer and singer Bentley Collingwood Hilliam (1890-1968) is best known as 'Flotsam' from the 1930s/40s satirical singing duo Flotsam & Jetsam - not to be confused with the contemporary thrash metal band. Jetsam - the Australian, Malcolm McEachern (1883-1945) - was renowned for his 3-octave basso profundo voice. This 1945 piece (of which this is the published piano solo version) was played by the composer with Ivor Dennis in a two-piano arrangement on Hilliam's broadcast concert-party shows 'Flotsam's Follies'. For anyone interested in Flotsam's Follies - which gave a career break to the young Tony Hancock - there is a fascinating contemporary account on:http://www.elliottfamilyhistory.co.uk/entertainer.htm
