Photosynthesis

In this video, we convey the importance of photosynthesis as a metabolic pathway. Without the igniting fuel of the suns rays, life on Earth as we know it would cease to exist. Through the light-dependent and light-independent reactions of photosynthesis, the metabolic cycle is fueled; this cycle consists of photosynthesis, glycolysis and aerobic resipiration. Through photolysis in the light-dependent reaction, the oxygen we breathe is released and the ATP that is needed to further fuel the cycle is produced. Without this oxygen, or without photosynthesis, life would return to an anaerobic environment like the primordial soup.
