On March 27 2011, John flies a Falcon 195 hang glider after being released from aerotow at
2500 feet. After turning right after release from tow, checking for air traffic,
stowing the bridle, and encountering smooth air beneath the thickening
cloud deck, he carefully removes attached camera from harness pocket
and takes some shaky video of landing field, surrounding terrain, glider,
and self. Two loops of 2-ft twine and stout lanyard kept camera secured
to harness. Camera was stowed for remainder of flight, as it was time to
land minutes later. He had received AT (aerotow) special skill sign-off earlier, and this was his 7th solo aerotow flight. Field can be seen at 0:31-0:32 among other intervals.
...thank you Keith...and I still quite strongly recall foot-launching from the 40-foot level of the training hill at Cooperstown and thinking how high and intimidating that was...!
