Volunteers from many countries came to Israel to help with the 1973 Yom Kippur War effort. At Kibbutz Netriv HaLamed-He some were assigned to tend chicken coops, others to plow fields, and still others to work in the machine shop. For a couple of anxious months they lived, worked, and played with fellow guest-workers, members of NAHAL, and permanent kibbutz residents.
