Miracle how they ever were able to go so much as one millimeter. After all, they weren't on "superior" uber light carbon and all that fishing tackle "gruppo" that makes more noise than a cement mixer and wears out faster than a souffle goes flat. They only had one bike for the whole event, not half a dozen specialty bikes that cost more than a house. No earphones, no indexed shifting and a million gears. No team buses with hot tubs. No personal trainers.
I couldn't agree more. I know, I know...the world changes, sports change, bikes evolve, equipment evolves, etc.
That said, I just don't get excited by the "look" of cycling anymore. The "brifters", sloping top tubes, stems at funky angles, brake levers sticking up like six guns (I love that analogy!), helmets...yes, I said it. Aaaaaargh...bring out the safety police!!
Cycling and cyclists just seem less "human" and more robotic. I don't know. Guess I'm just pining for the old days.
No slopping top tubes, sloping upwards stems, brake levers sticking up like six guns and bars that your hands slip off due to the angle of slope. Frame angles of 73 Deg plus and dont the Cinelli saddles look great too. I know I am a ludite but these guys are cool. Carbon nowhere in sight! Classic
Very interesting. I'd like to see the whole movie. Excellent vision (for cyclists).
