@highschoolmusical841 As a band with Vivian Stanshall. I was only writing in the past tense of the original band, not the musicians that are still with us. I feel like I'm about to meet a David Mitchell soapbox moment.

I think it's time to bring them back, aren't we in peril enough now?

Sadly (!) I have to admit that I had this on eight track (look it up!) in my beach buggy (look that up too!) and I wore it out. I then met, very briefly, the great Viv. I loved the man, his music and his phenomenal wit. I bought it again!

@hawkmoon03111951 You have discovered the Bonzo's secret. The band bought 78's from the worldwide depression of the late 1920's, and most of the 1930's. They went to used record shops. This song is one of those old 78's. The Bonzo's were amazed how cheerful, and funny some of these songs were during a period of economic peril. They (BDDDB) adapted those old songs to a late 1960's British audience. In most cases they improved upon the original version, they were all great musicians.

The LP is called Tadpoles. Their is a compilation cd 'Volume 2 The Outro' which has it on. 'The Intro and the Outro' itself was a track on their first LP 'Gorilla'.

I play this song on the piano for my Grand Daughter and she LOVES it. Thank you Vivian and Bonzos et al for all the great songs.

I also have a version by Albert Whelan, recorded in 1929. There is another version on You tube, purporting to be the original. It might be, it is an early recording, but there is no information in the notes.
