Coney Island Documentary Trailer

Trailer for a Documentary about the uncertain future of the amusement rides at Coney Island. Produced by 4 NYU Film students, this film will document what might be the last season for amusement park rides at Coney Island before the area becomes gentrified.

We are looking to interview people who have anecdotes about Coney Island, people who are might be affected by the future changes at Coney Island, and people who are passionate about the current situation.

Actually developers want market rate luxury rentals and condos - with tax abatements. No developer wants to build affordable housing because its not lucrative. And I'm not even talking about low income housing - affordable housing as in for working folks who make like $50K a year. In NY, the housing for working people is declining and everything is being built for the rich.

Watching this reminds me of when Fred Trump bought the Steeplechase property and torn it down to build some high rise buildings. Never happened, and I understand that lot is still empty today. Should have let Steeplechase stand. They tried to get it declared a landmark, but Trump moved in too fast. Big money always wins out.
