@EpicurusThirteen also , i doubt food was AS fattening as it is now days with all the fast food places etc
-
@S0XF0X For example, you eating yourself fat makes it slightly more acceptable for others to do it; fat people are supposedly likely to die earlier, so their ability to contribute to society is lessened by that much.
-
@S0XF0X Protected sex harms others in a very limited fashion, only because you could've been working to cure cancer/aids or invent a useful theory/concept to solve big problems in that time. 'Eating yourself fat', has a slightly more significant impact on your immediate social surrounding; since we don't live in a completely socially darwinist society, everyone is a part of a chain, and the weaker links always weigh everyone else down, even if a negligible amount.
-
@ceXhc How does having lots of protected sex and eating yourself fat harm others? Are you really comparing the act of eating and fucking to murder?
-
Hedonists like to focus on the more pleasant aspects of human impulse, like lust and gluttony, and leave out that, for instance, our ancestors were greedy murderous bastards as well. We're wired for violence and insecurity and rape. Overcoming impulse isn't just for the monastics who choose to dedicate to such a cause - It's dangerous to distort it that way. Self-control is an obligation of all. You can't just kill whenever someone pisses you off, nor is it simply ok to be a morbidly obese slut.

Which episode is this ???

BTW, in terms of human evolution, unity, organisation, intelligence and creativity meant 1000X more than athletics and physical prowess. Nerds win the wars
See; Sparta VS Thebes.

ugh, no. There were plenty of fatasses in Rome, Octavian was fat, Claudius was fat, Nero was fat, many of the people found at Pompeii were 'obese' (by their bone structure) Many Mongol Lords such as Ghengis Khan were also fat (he was short too)
STFU and get a job.

fuckin dumbass
Penn's point is that you are BRED to eat alot, it doesn't matter if ancestors had to exercise and we don't now, the need to eat alot of food is still there.

On the other hand, people who ate a lot back in the day basically couldn't get out of doing a lot of hard physical work, least of which was walking everywhere. That kind of exercise regimen DOES let you eat all the time, but if you want the paycheck (food) without the work (exercise), you're going to end up in debt (fat as a motherfucker).
