2008 Japan Trip - Fukui Buddhist Festival

This is a video I took today for a traditional Buddhist festival near Fukui, which is very close the Sea of Japan. It is interesting, They have a huge fire and burn the entire stack of wood and pine down. After that, it is flattened out and people walk across the hot coal. Supposedly this is to give you good health and fortune. Almost everyone there walked across, including me! By the time we did it, the coals were not even hot. It was kind of interesting.

I don't know, it must be pretty hot at first. I walked toward the end when it wasn't hot anymore at all.
