Honourable Senators, Members of the Assembly, Residents, and visiting Dignitaries.
Today marks for us the first day of a new Kodiak; a new direction; a grand re-founding.
Over two years ago, Kodiak was borne of the ideas of community, equality, and democracy. Today, we elaborate on those ideas. We instil into them yet more meaning and history. Today, we become a Better Kodiak.
We have together as brothers created a foundation, scaffold, and roof; security for ourselves, our values and Ideas, and our democracy. Kodiak could not, and would not, and I think should not, exist without the brotherhood, effort, and teamwork that every one of us have always given.
We stand today in a Kodiak ruled by a new central document. It isn't the first, and likely isn't the last. What makes this constitution unique is that for the first time, the entire executive is finally subordinate to the people, and in many ways, subordinate to itself. The executive is in all ways checked and double checked by the population. Citizens elect a President, subordinate to the Senate. Citizens elect a Senate that composes the Executive. The Senate selects a Chancellor, subordinate to the Senate, and Citizenry. All members easily recalled at a moment's notice; all members serving the Population.
As President of this fine republic, I am honoured to serve knowing that we have spread the power amongst the electorate; that the President is no longer supreme leader, regardless the office's mandate.
Today, as leader of the Senate, and of the State, I have been advised to appoint our First Executive Chancellor of the Kodiak Republic Senate. I am humbled by my duty to appoint Aexnidaral my first Minister and Chancellor, endowed with all the powers of the Presidency and the Constitution, and authority over my ministries and their direction, for so long as he retains the support of the people, and the Senate.
For the first time in a long time, I think Kodiak has come back to its original roots. We aren't a young region anymore, but today, we mark a point where we rebuild ourselves as a region possible to involve yourself in, possible to advance in, and possible to have a great deal of fun in.
As President of the Kodiak Republic, I hereby open the First Parliament of Kodiak. Let the Beer, Wine, and Spirits flow freely from now until the next election.
