It's obvious. Watch closely, he didn't catch you in the Tri Force, he caught Meta Knight, and you KO'd him that same second after Link caught him, so Link flew at Meta, but since Meta Knight was out, he just went off; searching for a target that ceased to exist (if you wanna think of it like that).
