FADE IN: INT. APARTMENT - BEDROOM - DAY An OLD WOMAN lies in bed. She is obviously dying. A NURSE is bustling around the room, doing her regular chores. She checks on the old woman, sees that she's sleeping, then heads into the living room to tidy up. INT. APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - LATER The nurse is sitting on the couch, a magazine draped over her stomach, her eyes closed. The magazine slides to the floor and makes a noise. The nurse stirs, reaches for the magazine, but quickly drops it again when she sees a mystery MAN sitting on the couch next to her. MAN Hello. NURSE Who are you? MAN I'm here to take Clair for a walk. NURSE Clair... Mrs. Morgan... said nothing of a walk. She doesn't walk. I mean, I've never seen her get out of bed. Who are you... CLAIR (from the bedroom) Stanley...is that you? The man rises from the couch and walks to the bedroom. INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS Stanley moves to Clair's bed and takes her hand. The nurse hovers anxiously in the doorway. STANLEY Yes dear, it is time to go. The sun is setting perfectly on the beach. (to Nurse) Don't worry young lady. I'm a relation. NURSE Sir. I don't think that she will be able to get out of ... Clair slowly shifts in the bed and slides her legs over the side. Stanley hoists her to her feet. Clair wobbles but steadies herself by taking Stanley's arm. STANLEY Hello Clair. Don't forget your jacket. (to NURSE) She always forgets her jacket. Stanley takes Clair's jacket from the closet and helps her put it on. NURSE I don't... STANLEY Bye young lady. Thank you for all of your help and God bless you. INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS Stanley gently steers Clair toward the door. STANLEY(CONT'D) (to Clair) How did you know I would come? CLAIR I have loved much and been loved deeply. Oh when my spirit's fire burns low, leave me the darkness and the stillness, I shall be tired and glad to go. STANLEY Sarah Teasdale, lovely. (pauses to think) I thought of you and how you love this beauty, and walking up the long beach all alone... CLAIR ...did you never know, long ago, how much you loved me when I hear you speaking... STANLEY ...you were too young to know. My mind is proud and strong enough to be silent. Take a deep breath. I am your connection with the world around you. I am your guide to the knowledge that will connect you with all of our relations. CLAIR You love me, and I find you still a spirit beautiful and bright. Why did you wait for me? I'm glad you came. It will not change now after so many years. Life has not broken it... STANLEY ...that the spirit flew off free, lifting into the sky, diving into the sea. Oh day of fire and sun like a crystal burning, slow days go one by one, but you have no returning. INT. APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM CLAIR'S SON, a middle-aged man, stands in front of the nurse, who looks confused and a little sheepish. SON What do you mean she just walked out of here? She has been in that bed for the last seven years. She does not just get up and walk out of here. NURSE Mr. Morgan, you don't understand. Mrs. Morgan seemed to know him. She called him by name when she walked out with him. Clair's son gives her a stern look. NURSE (CONT'D) (bolder now) She is an adult, you know, and I don't appreciate you insunuating that I have done something wrong. SON I'm sorry but you understand, what name .. NURSE He also looked familiar. I am sure I have seen him over here before. He said he was a relation. SON Ok. I'm sorry for overreacting. What was the man's name? NURSE Stanley. A look of recognition crosses his face. NURSE(CONT'D) Do you know a Stanley? SON (takes a photo from his wallet) My father. He died 17 years ago. INT. BEDROOM Clair's son walks into the room and hurries to the bed. He takes his mother's hand and notices that she is no longer breathing. As he leans over her in grief, we see that there is a peaceful smile on her face. She has passed on. FADE OUT THE END

  • I think the jacket was supposed to be her body which she just let fall and left behind. Stanley was her dead husband who took her off into the afterlife.

  • That old lady was sure hot when she was young :P

  • But they're DEAD people! How do you know they don't talk like that?

  • Hmmm....I didn't understand the plot too well. But it was pretty good otherwise. Decent acting and great atmosphere, but the sound seemed to be uneven at times. Overall, it was good.

  • very nice!!!

  • It would have been cool to show the jacket lying on the beach for the closing.

  • whoa...bad acting

  • I saw your movie had the same title as mine so thought i would check it out. Good lighting, i like the black and white. Sound was uneven and i didn't understand the story or the event. The lead actors had a good look to them like Bogart and Grace Kelly. Keep producing you seem to have a nack for it!

  • Great video, although sound was a bit rough, (that's usually my biggest problem too). Otherwise great job; but since sound counts I can only give you 4 stars. Damn, I'm such an ass.

    THE RED

  • BORING AND VERY STUPID!!
