October 12, 1995. Josh Tewksbury, University of Montana. Cottonwood and Aspen as Wildlife Habitat:A Focus on Birds. The importance of deciduous riparian systems in sustaining diverse regional bird communities cannot be overemphasized. Wayne Shepperd, Research Silviculturist, Rocky Mountain Research Station. Silviculture and Management of Aspen in the West. Aspen forests are an imprtant component of many western landscapes.
