GREAT MUSEUMS loves what the Boston Children's Museum has done but is also happy to share this historical perspective, given that it is the 2nd oldest children's museum in the country, founded in 1913. Director Michael Spock's innovations in the 1960s revolutionized the children's museum world. Despite the renovations, the museum's mission and purpose remain the same and its central tenet of "Play is learning" is in full force today.
