Starring Fred Astaire, Joseph Stalin, Richard Nixon, Adolf Hitler, Rudyard Kipling, and Columbus. A short film exploring the infamous colonial expression 'white mans burden,' particularly the way Britain and America have shouldered this 'burden' over the last century.
In consideration of somebody's criticism, i should point out that the original film was split into two parts to show how a polemical can distort the truth, the other film showing the atrocities committed by people all around the world, from Idi Amin to Chairman Mao, the point being that atrocities are universally human NOT to do with a specific race.
It originally featured at the beginning criticisms by Louis Farrakhan, while the second featured some examples of the terrible things Farrakhan himself had done by way of balance! But i had to cut this part temporarily out of the first film as i didn't have the second one ready, but i needed to upload SOMETHING cogent as an example of video editing for a job interview.
However, i have still not completed the second film due to other commitments so i understand how it can come across as self guilt and flagellantism, but you should realise it was originally intended to make the opposite point! Hopefully i will get around to it more fully at some point in the future (though downloading all the video is quite time consuming and tedious).
This was mostly done just as an experiment with some video editing software however, NOT to make cogent political or historical points.
I hate this self-guilt and flagellantism.
