Installing and reviewing the Mossberg Loc-Box shotgun wall mounting system. A great way to secure your shotgun away from your children, but still have it easily accessible. And yes, I do believe that children should be taught to be responsible around unsecured firearms, but a little extra precaution is always a good idea.

I purchased it directly from the Mossberg website for a little under $40. In the video I'm using a Winchester 1300 shotgun, but the Loc-Box is also compatible with the following models:

Pump action: Mossberg HS.410, 500, 590, 590DA & 835. Remington 870. Winchester 1300. Maverick 88 & 91.

Semi-Automatic: Mossberg 5500 & 9200. Remington 1100 & 11-87.

Other models may apply.

  • I don't like the key. It would be better with a combination lock. A child can get hold of your keys. You have to keep them somewhere and don't always have them with you. Just think about it.

    In the middle of the night, I don't want to be looking for the keys. If it's a combo, all you have to do is enter the combination.

  • @iriabellathorn I can see both sides. Yes, keys can be lost or found, but I only installed this lock to keep accidental contact with the weapon from happening. Whether combination or key, this is not a secure enough system to keep a determined person from getting the gun.

    And while I agree that in a lights-on situation, a combination is easier, in the pitch black of night and in a hurry, I can get the key into the lock faster than I can spin a combination. (Trust me, I've practiced...)

  • It needs to cover the trigger

  • @jarinboyer Because of how the lock holds the gun by hooking inside the gun's receiver, having the trigger exposed is not a danger. The gun simply cannot be fired while locked up, as it cannot hold a shell in the chamber while still in the Loc-Box .

  • not really the "ideal" shotgun for home defense.. but will still get the job done = )

  • @gunnaboy70217 Yeah, yeah, I know, I know . . . The gun is primarily used for aiding in pheasant depopulation, but I'm hoping the 00 buckshot loaded inside will make up for any defensive limitations.

  • @s0undtribe. Why would a kid be "weirded" by the site of a gun? What is weird is irrational fear of inanimate objects....

  • @s0undtribe Actually, she and all my children are perfectly comfortable in the presence of a shotgun as I've taught them early and often age-appropriate safety rules in regards to firearms. And I would hope that any children in your life would also be comfortable in their knowledge of firearms safety.

  • @PHILLIP7003 its coming

  • @iriabellathorn When you are home, asleep it would be unlocked. When you leave for work the shotgun would be stowed and locked. Its not made to be instant access. Its a security point for those who dont own a safe..basically. Possibly california DOJ legal for gun storage. {its illegal to leave firearms loose in cali}
