Join the Tweet contest by tweeting @greenopolis about why you think we should care about our oceans!
Melissa McGinnis reports at the Monterey Bay Aquarium about how Greenopolis has partnered with the Aquarium in celebration of World Ocean's Day. There are lots of activities so go check it out in this video!
Melissa is inside the Aquarium near the outer bay location and with her is the Greenopolis team.
Leslie Moyer is here for 5 Gyres to talk about the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. 5 Gyres has been to five of the subtropical ocean gyres and Leslie has samples here to show you of what they've seen.
That's right. That's the inside of a dissected albatross's stomach.
Ashok Kamal is thrilled to be over beautiful Monterey overlooking the Pacific Ocean. But of course, oceans affect everybody in the world.
Greenopolis wants to ask you why people should care about the oceans. So Greenopolis got a Twitter contest going on where you can tweet @Greenopolis why you should care about our oceans. Greenopolis has been getting some amazing responses like, @staygreen said "It's the biggest piece of the planet, and if it dies, we die;" and Molly Wright said, "Because water is the foundation for life and foundations support everything." And very simply, @oceanresearch answered "Because breathing is nice." Obviously they know that our oceans generate 70 percent of carbon dioxide so people need to take care of it.
Amanda Iseri is an educational game that shows visitors what they can reuse and recycle, like plastic bottles, cans and cardboard, where people can compost. And worst in our oceans are things like straws and cigarette butts.
For more information, visit http://www.oceanaid.org and download your own global guide for keeping everyday harmful items out of the oceans. Don't forget to tweet: http://www.Twitter.com/Greenopolis. We'd love to hear from you!

@123smilejess That's very different than garbage! Vomit is actually a natural substance unlike plastics and other things with harmful chemicals.
