Burma and China are constructing the three dams in Dapein River in Burma's northern Kachin State. The Dapein River flows from China and join to Burma's Irrawaddy River near Bhamo town crossing the two countries border. The three dams for hydropower plants are built closely each other----Chinese dam is constructed on the two countries' border but the two Burmese Dapein (1) and (2) dams are in Burmese territory. The Dapein (1) and (2) have been jointly constructed by the Burmese junta's Industry-1 and China Datang Corporation (CDT) since last 2008. The product of electricity from the two Dapein hydropower plants will be sold to China.
