Steadicam Merlin with a Canon 5D Mark II and 16-35mm at Tallulah Gorge State Park.
Still can't get my Merlin to balance 100% with a 5D or 7D, but it's getting easier to quickly balance the rig. Here are my Merlin settings:
Mounting Hole: N
Z: -1
Stage: -3
Weights: Lower Only, 3 Mid, 1 Finish
I got a pretty good result from this combo....It takes practice, but when you get the hang of it, it can be impressive....Check out my videos.

not a totally balanced merlin , there should be no side to side lateral movement ,
But hey nice shots , the merlin is a pain in the butt to get right, if you use it in a commercial way , make sure its ready to go the night before a shoot !

Can I ask what settings you're using? I'm trying to balance the exact same set up but still getting a lot of side to side sway. Also, how are you resolving the issue with no locating pin hole in the 5D? Thanks, Steve

@gestalt100 use the Sturdycam, it's better than Merlin and much less expensive !
see my videos if you want the proof, for example on a quad, the video.

oh my gosh if i had a steady cam i'd make speeder bike videos, i live about a mile from the gorge, how much does a steady cam thing cost? i only use a canon powershot for hd video.
