If you're just getting into home automation and go searching for Open Source HA projects, you'll discover there aren't any obviously dominant players - more a mix of partly-developed personal projects that aren't very portable. Why is that?

  • Why no comment about LinuxMCE's home automation support?

    I believe it was original a commercial system but I believe Joe Wooller is using this system quite a fair bit in concert with Z-Wave, Cisco Phone & N800 for Orbiters, security cameras, etc.

  • @lathiat I tried it a few years ago when I was doing the MythTV presence awareness stuff in 2009, and couldn't stand it. Perhaps that was just me being dumb though, or maybe it's improved. I'll check it out again, thanks!

  • @SuperHouseTV i still think its not the most fantastic bit of software in the world, but, it does seem to genearlly "work"
