in 2007 I was voicing my interest in this film on a Titanic-related messageboard and a perfect stranger from Germany sent me a private message telling me he had a recording of this from when it was shown on German TV in 1998 after some film collecter found it in his vault. This person proceeded to send me a dvd with this on it along with a couple of german Titanic documentaries.

Dude. DUDE. This film is from 1912. This was the beginning of the cinema. It didn't need to be perfect at the time, and for such an old movie, it's pretty good, actually.

The shocking thing is that it is literally weeks after the actual accident happened. Unreal.

I need to know this film is the same as Saved from the Titanic (1912)?

As a film about Titanic, and as a window in 1912 culture, this film is the Holy Grail. Even as a film in general, this film is better than half the crap that gets made nowadays.

This definitely beats Billy Zane running around the sinking ship with a gun.

Very Nice. A bit creepy (in my opinion) though....

I love pre 1915 films, this one is one of the most technologically advanced I've ever seen.
