Thank you for posting this! I saw it at the BFI's UK premiere in 1999. We were told that it had been brought over so recently that they hadn't had time to change the German inter-title cards, so a German lady simultaneously translated the cards over the cinema's speaker system! However, I have since found out that the BFI have had a (slightly truncated, probably 80-90% complete) print since the 1960s! Cheeky buggers...

@melpa04 no it was the first film made on the disaster, the film was so i've read made the same year as the sinking. incredible it's survived as many 1890,1900's films are hard to come-by and in poor condition, youtube has some of edison's street films from the 1900's though

mistake me if i'm wrong, but is this seriously the official titanic footage? its just ive searched everywhere for good footage and this is the best one i've seen by miles. I've favorited anyways :D

@113dsc in 2007 I was voicing my interest in this film on a Titanic-related messageboard and a perfect stranger from Germany sent me a private message telling me he had a recording of this from when it was shown on German TV in 1998 after some film collecter found it in his vault. This person proceeded to send me a dvd with this on it along with a couple of german Titanic documentaries.
