Probably one of the most ridiculous statements from Washington D.C. in some time. Anyone living in his Congressional District should be embarrassed that he has been in congress for 22 terms. That is, Conyers has been a member of Congress since 1965. 1965. Even more embarrassing to his constituents is that Conyers is a lawyer. A lawyer in Congress since 1965 and he does not believe in reading the bills before he signs. Perhaps Conyers has never heard the term "unintended consequences". Maybe he is unaware of the disastrous effects of the Community Reinvestment Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, or the American Dream Downpayment Assistance Act. Perhaps he is uninformed about the near insolvency of entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. Conyers is THE prime example as to why term limits are needed.
