West Central Florida Railfanning - Saturday December 10, 2011 Part 1

Part 1 of 2. I headed to Tampa to do some railfanning and ended up going to Mango and Brandon also.

Amtrak P42DC 199 puts out a smoke screen as he passes me.

CSX Ballast Train W074 heads to the light at YN. There he will have to wait because a car stuck on the tracks at Lakewood Dr in Brandon. The report from the sherrif's office was that there was significant damage to the track.

By the time I got to Lakewood Dr the car was already clear of the tracks and on a tow truck. I saw some significant damage to the car but none to the tracks. I got back to 78th St just in time to catch this CSX Rock train switching at Yeoman Yard. I know he never left the yard while I was out and I never did catch his ID.

I heard on the scanner about CSX X705 departing at AY. So I jumped in the car and headed for Orient Rd. I missed him there but caught up to him at SE Mango.

Nice package, Ken. Nice camera work. The new connection at Yeoman/Uceta is getting a lot of use. I hear that there are several more new changes coming to Tampa Terminal. Those last two catches were really cool. Would have really liked to been out with you that day.

Nice video. What happened with the still shots between 8:11 and 8:27? Did the car get hit at the grade crossing?
