Fresh, inspirational and original songs are a sheer delight, coming from Mr. Hawkins and his excellent collaborator on many of his projects, Kevin Bond. Both are a godsend. In my opinion, "Face to Face" should have won the 1990 Grammy for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album. Instead, it went to Take 6. Oh well. Nevertheless, he went on to win his 4th for the brilliant recording of the 20th Anniversary of Oh, Happy Day, in Pasadena, CA -1992.
I remember the first time my cousin (an excellent musician) taught me this on the electric piano. I was simply thrilled. It's wonderful to hear this song again after all these years.
