Joe Paterno Fired by Penn State http://www.AthleteGamePlan.com - After 61 Year of Service Joe Paterno was let go on November 9, 2011. What will this do to his legacy? I want to know your thoughts. How will this all play out? It truly is an unfortunate event all around.

  • I think I need to clarify myself. I in no way think that anyone who knew about this should not be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. That goes from Top to Bottom in terms of seniority, position, title, etc.

I proposed the question because I wanted to hear what your thoughts were in regards to this horrible situation. Like I said in the video, I am sure more facts will continue to come out and the more I hear the worse it looks... Very, very sad all around.

  • Tony Romo??

  • @ForevaSniping Great point & great analogy!

  • McQueary has the PA Whistle blowing law & it protects him from being Fired even though he's a punk. Eveyone involved in this Cover up needs to be Fired & Charged where possible, including JoePa, Slutz (sp), Curley, Spanier etc.

Try to put yourself in the children's shoes that were being molested & got nothing but Cover ups. Suppose it was you or your son? Just b/c JoePa did a lot of good does Not give him a Free Pass. They all lost their rights when they didn't help these kids. No excuses

  • Your hearts in the right place. I do think Paterno should have been let go and McQuery should be let go but he is protected by the whistle blower's law as he went to his direct bosses.

  • Listen you must be a pedophile yourself... there is absolutely no defense for his decision to try to cover this up. Joe Paterno will never be remembered for his football. Not after what he did. That'd be like if Lincoln had shot a black man. Nobody would be saying "Oh but he ended slavery!"

  • i dont feel sorry for Paterno he didnt go to the police after knowing about this

  • McQueary was a graduate student at the time and trusted the institution to handle the matter appropriately. JoePa at the time and still is a God on the PSU campus. He was supposed to be the moral compass and public face of PSU and instead chose to be a pedophile enabler, ruining the lives of possibly 30+ children, for the sake of the football program. McQueary was nothing, JoePa was everything. Everyone involved should be fired, but letting Joe go ASAP was the right decision.
