Details of gigs around Kent and the Southeast and news of the band I play with are on Facebook.com/Barry Guy Targett
This is a tune I've been tinkering around with for a couple of days. - Four chords, played as arpeggios, Am, F, E and E7. The white violin is a Bridge 'Octave', tuned EADG, (from high to low,) the same as, but one octave below a regular violin. The purple violin is my Bridge 'Aquila'.
I'm recording and playing simultaneously on this piece using a Boss RC20XL loopstation. At 2.20 on the video to 3.00, I'm using a harmoniser pedal, producing simultaneous major 3rds above the melody.
Not exactly a Christmas song, but my best offering for the festive season!
Sound quality is just the camera mic, recording sound from the amplifier, not my usual studio multitrack efforts.
Season's greetings, and thanks for looking. Many thanks to all the wonderful folks who've encouraged me since this adventure began. Thanks especially to nwbsbeth for the loveliest words I ever heard. Happy Christmas and happy festive times to us all!!
'til next time,
Barry

  • @useryug thank you so much for getting back to me, you're very helpful, i might look into that self adhesive fretboard. Thank you again.

  • The first 4 arpeggio chords are easy... though I've played a long time, I'm only a very basic player. The white violin is an 'octave' violin, one octave below a regular violin. If you read for guitar, I'd say go for it. - In the US, you can get a 'don't fret'; a self adhesive fretboard to stick to the fingerboard... very handy to keep you in tune while practicing.. also, the tone of a violin while learning can be disheartening... try experimenting with muting the bridge to find a sweet tone.

  • Hello, I'm interested in learning the violin. I'm curently an experienced guitar player and I can read music. This may be a dumb question, but I'm wondering what is expected of me regarding skill. What I am wondering is for example is the very beginning of this piece, how difficult is it to play. I am in love with the music but I do not want to discourage myself because I can't play nearly what I want to.

  • Hello jollyrajer! Yes. all my own work, thanks for your interest, and no, not Washington state, I'm in London, UK!

    thanks,

    Barry
