  • I know its very tempting - I must say that its really a great setup with the Silent Way software suite - outstanding synth madness - imagine - no envelopes or LFOs, programmable patch bay and full Silent Way control and you are almost at programmable modular!

  • Holy crap, I had no idea this was possible.

  • I hate seeing Korg Monopolys. The reason why is becasue back in 1998 I took a fully working Monopoly and actually threw it in the skip (thats trash). Boy do I regret that.

In regards this Im suer its excellent. My concern is that instead of playing I may end up endlessly tweaking software again (just like a VST). Im trying to get away from that.

  • @thermalmaximum maybe you could just stfu and go make your "whatever you do" instead of fucking around. I'm sure he knows Google, but people like you make beginners turn away from trying out new stuff! Bah..

  • one of your best reviews sonicstate!

  • @thermalmaximum

Well I was mainly referring to the content in this video (hooking it up to a DAW via midi etc.) but thanks for the advice nevertheless!!

  • @Biopharmer Agreed 100% – no idea why they look so bad. Fortunately if you're on a Mac you can change the GUI elements on your own (you can probably do the same with ResHacker on Windows, but I haven't tried).

Right-click/ctrl-click on any of the AU plugins (i.e. ExSlSilentWayCVToMIDI.component), choose "Show Package Contents," and go to /Contents/Resources, where you will find several PNG files and a text file called gui.lua which allows you to change colors and fonts.

  • @Voyagermusix Thanks for sharing, I'm sure your therapist will be proud – especially since you're talking about your feelings. But seriously, if you don't understand why it would be useful to sync a pre-MIDI analog synth with the vast capabilities of Ableton Live, then you're beyond the help of even the most expensive therapists.

  • @fimpson Or you can try this cool site called Google and learn everything you need to know. There's nothing complicated about modular – everything is right in front of you, visualized with cables, couldn't be simpler.

  • I want to get into modular synthesis, but it's so gaddam complicated. I have absolutely no idea what is going on in this video. You should do a "Modular Synthesis 101" series. That would be great

  • Great video! Glad to see Expert Sleepers getting some love and DELIGHTED Sonic State is highlighting modular stuff now!

Just be careful Nick! Touching bus boards with the case powered up is a no-no mate!

    *bbbuuuzzzttt - pop*
