  • I do not miss the black widows (my host familiy had some horses). There were many black widows around the barns. I hate spiders!

I miss the rattle snakes. They are quite cool!

I even saw a bald eagle flying over the Colorado River. And the most interesting animal I saw in Colorado was a skunk.

  • My dog Jasper (star of Little Dog, Deep Snow on youtube under my profile) encountered a skunk in our back yard one month ago. The skunk did spray, but fortunately only a tiny amount got on Jasper. It's funny how dogs need to learn the hard way - like teenagers!

  • Haha I really can't imagine this smell. What is it like? My American host father told me that you have to wash yourself with tomato juice after a skunk attack. Is it true?

  • Skunk spray is a sickening smell, extremely powerful, even nauseating. The smell is very persistent - it lasts for days - and is very difficult to remove. I have heard that tomato products can reduce the severity. We smell skunk a lot when they are hit by cars. I remember a song, "dead skunk, in the middle of the road, stinking to high heaven"

  • Omg, what's the name of the place that can be seen at 5:23min? I've been there. I even remember the tree in the water. The waterfall was still frozen when I had been there (April). There are trouts in the lake. We fed them with oreos..

  • That is Hanging Lake near Glenwood Springs. No doubt you also remember the long steep hike to get there! In the background you can barely see two young girls - my daughters who are now 30 and 27 years old. Soon I hope to take granchildren there...

  • Colorado is my favorite place in the whole world. i hope to move their someday after college. im about the least emotional person in the world but there is something so moving and so humbling about standing amongst the mountains...ah what a beautiful beautiful state.

ya know how on vacations by the last day or so, you cannot wait to get home? well for the first time i was actually saddened to go home from vaca was on my trip to the great state of colorado

  • I remember that it's possible to get on the top of the waterfall. I think it was easier to get there from the left side. I remember the great view over the landscape from the top of it.

It was quite difficult for me to find your daughters on the picture.

I miss the prairie dogs. lol

  • Thank you very much! Yes, I remember the long steep hike to get there. I asked myself why we were doing this. The path isn't that spectacular. But it was fantastic in the end. The most beautiful lake I've ever seen. I am a fishing fanatic. Good for the trouts that I didn't have fihing tackle with me ;)
