Im taking a college welding course and all the arc flash videos I've seen happen so fast. Remember the left hand rule!

Actually my company, 70E Solutions along with Westex created the explosions in this video. A Klein allen wrench was used to cause a phase to phase explosion. This simulates a plethora of scenarios that could happen while working in or around a live electrical panel.

RE: What actually produces the heat and fireball?
Vaporized molten metal and super-heated air from radiant energy (infra-red, visible and ultra-violet) from the arc.
Additionally, a blast wave is created by expanding air and molten shrapnel from melted components such as contacts, wires and insulation are ejected at high enough speeds to penetrate or even pass through the body.

wow, its like a small nuke.

whoa
-
wow...
@LamenSays - An Arc Flash is a discharge of heat, light, sound and pressure when two phases are short circuited inside the switchboard. This only occurs when there are high currents involved.
