Hi, i do the same excercise, the only difference being that i place the foot of the "unused" leg on the floor. I call this excercise stationary dumbell lunges.
Can you give me a hint on why you think this excercise is useful? Also, if you don't mind, can you tell me how heavy you go?
This exercise will increase stability while strengthening your hams and glutes. But get that back foot elevated.
