Here is my version of Chut Yup Bo, also known as "Reciprocating Step" or "Forwarding & Withdrawing Step". I learned this form way back in 1981 from Si-Gung Lee Pang (Frank Lee). It was one of my first forms to learn and is one of my favourites.

If you practice Tibetan White Crane (Pak Hok Pai) you may recognize the form. My version is likely different than yours unless you learned from the same lineage (My version is about 80% of part one, and 10% of part two of the original form). I hope you can appreciate the similarities and the differences. I perform it at moderate speed so you can better see some of the techniques (plus I am getting old and its hard to do!)

I hope you enjoy,
Tom

(sorry about the balls in the background, I use the gym of a fitness center)

  • Is you Lama Pai lineage connected to Master Chen Keun Ng (Chen Jung Wu)? My lineage is through Master Sing Lung - Master Wong Yin Lin (Wong Yan-Lam) - Master Li Yin Chuan - Master Tsai Yi Kung - Master Wong Yin Lin (Wong Yan-Lam) - Master Chen Keun Ng (Chen Jung Wu - Wai Lun Choi (Cai Hui Lin) - Sifu John B. "Jack" Soderberg

  • @naumutroi my lineage is through a couple branches of Pak Hok Pai. The form you see here is from Sifu Frank Lee (lineage Ng Siu Chung > Luk Chi Fu), Sifu Frank incorporated much of his own style into the form you see in this video. To view my full lineage take a look at my website linked on my MyChannel page on YouTube

To tie the lineage back to you, here is the order: Sheng Long -> Huang Lin Kai -> Ng Siu Chung

  • excellent performance. technically proficient. some emotional content would be a nice addition to add polish to the performance to give reverance to both the spirit of the ape as well as the crane.

  • @naumutroi good observation, I believe my performance in this video (and some of my others on YouTube) can show more of the principle of "Chon" (destructive/ruthlessness) which is exhibited by the spirit of the ape. Thanks for your comment.

  • sorry but, where is the martially in this form?

    Power... Strenght.. Vigor.... Spirit..

I don't see in any moves..

    =/

  • @brusidarta no need to apologize, you are free to share your views, I do not post these videos to be praised, I post them to share the Art.
