Damage footage from the tornadoes in Alabama, Highway 79, passing Waterfront Grocery and hitting Preston Island. Most of the homes are summerhomes and were empty, but firefighters rescued one person and some got out of their homes unharmed and surveyed the damage. No deaths that I am aware of.

  • My gosh this was a terrible tornado, I live in Sylvanai Alabama, and it did quite a bit of damage here too. Did you get to see the funnel? The tornado passed about 300 yards behind my house. you can see exactly where it went through, the trees that were there before it hit are no longer there. It was incredible, It was a good half mile wide swath and you could see it extending up to the northeast from there. It tore the roof of our toolshed off, blew the roof of my sister's porch off

  • Sounds like it delt quite a bit of damage to you. It missed our house, thankfully, by about 150 feet. Although I did not view the tornado in person (I was in a bathroom in my basement) I later watched it hit Preston Island through one of our security cameras. It was incredible; watching the massive twister rip apart houses and trees just so close to our own house. I can't imagine how some of my neighbors felt. It makes you cherish life more, y'know?

  • I live on Pine Island just to the north. I watched the tornado cross the Tennessee River from my boat house after it moved off of Preston towards South Saute.

  • Absolutely it does. I felt awful for the folks around us. Many of them lost their houses altogether. There is the roof of someone's trailor twisted in the trees in my back yard, and this trailor is a good quartermile down the road. the tornado also blew a pecan tree down on my truck so I currently have no transportation at the moment.

  • She's supposed to come home today.

  • Ahh okay.

  • Her. Hahaha. Yeah I'm not sure, she's in Alabama.

  • Well, if his house is in here, I'd guess not.

  • Glad your okay. It missed my house by about... 150 feet.

I think we're more blessed than you.

  • Oh no): hopefully my bestest friend is okay.
