  • Tebaldi is great as usual as Tosca, It suits her like a glove. Such beautiful and clear sound. For me she is the greatest Tosca. She is so feminine.I just copied michaud1, he is so right.

  • RENATA TEBALDI = MERAVIGLIA DEI SOPRANI. Gianni Poggi : grandissimo tenore ! Tutti meravigliosi, interpretazione SUBLIME ! Chi canta così oggi ? Cantanti così segnano la storia.

  • Poggi's voice is comparable with the great Giuseppe Giuseppe di Stefano's

  • She still had that clear sound unlike anybody singing today - she the greatest Tosca - powerful yet feminine with a beautiful sound. Her diction is not mushy,

  • This is a ridiculous comment. There is no way to compare the voices of these singers reliably. The only quality recordings of Muzio were made in the 30's when she was past her prime, you can't tell from the earlier ones. Same for Rethberg. You would have to go by the opinion of someone who heard them all. It's a sure bet that Toscanini would not agree with your assertion.

  • Poggi is so underrated! What a performance by both!

  • Sometimes a lyric instrument is confused as it is smaller in size and or thickness than a dramatic.Lyric voices have an amazing G, A, B, normally lighter Cs and Ds.If you study the rol of Desdemona in Verdi's Otello how low a lyric soprano has to sing like in Butterfly. Dramatic is other stuff.

  • one of the best tenor it is a peaty that is not so famous.great renata
