I live in Hessville. And I think that the glory days are behind us now. Another 10 years, and It will look alot more like Gary.. Its heading that way now.. BTW, there are many beautiful homes in Gary. You can get a 2000+sq ft home for under 50k.. (sigh) THANKS Mayor Dedelow!!! And now McDermotte!!

Thanks for allowing uniforms to be implemented in the school system. Thanks for bringing in the worst ghetto stock from Chicago.. Hows that going for us?

i heard Hessville is the worst part of Hammond is that true? can you tell me more. I agree with your McDermotte comment i don't think he give a whoot what happens to Hammond really at least from what I have seen. Let see what happens in 10 years but i can happily say where i live in hammond in been nice and quiet for the past 17 years. i thank you for your comet and i look forward to your response.

Is that Hohman Ave?...Its practically Munster there. And I agree, its nice there. I have children in public schools. Do you?... I have lived in Hammond for over 40 years. I have seen many changes, and most are not for the better.. I grew up here, now I am raising my kids here. And its a far cry from my youth. I definitely plan to move soon. Out to the country....Hessville isnt the worst area IMO, downtown is. By the police station.. Robertsdale is nice too...Good luck..

Yes that is Honman ave and yes Munster is 4 blocks away and it just nice enough to keep the rucus out. No i don't have children yet. any reccomendation on my future kids? I seen downtown not so nice. Overall i am comfortable where i live i feel safer than i do standing in chicago at 3am. if you can work in chicago loop and live in south hammond its a good deal. So far it worked for me I just hope this area stays this nice for another 3 decades.

im glad i live in hammond, i find it very great and has good schools and nice recreational areas. the part i live in (hessville) is okay, although i live right by a highway and i can barely sleep sometimes

For your information that is why its called PART 1.

And it is a documentary still in the making. I'm sure there are thousands of people in Hammond who take care of their lawns. I am sick of these getto rap based hammond video that bring a bad rap to Hammond. If you feel you can make a better video then please participate and make your own video also. As far as the good and bad people are concerned they know who they are. There is no no for me to point fingers. peace

Growing up in Hessville was wonderful in the 60's. I have very fond memories of Caldwell School and Morton Middle School, from which I graduated in 1970.  Then went on to graduate from Morton HS in ' 74. I agree with Officer Squarenuts. Hessville and Robertsdale are my favorite parts of Hammond. The Chicagoland areas which are near the lake are a collection of neighborhoods, some good, some bad....But mostly good!!!! IMHO
