haha what a whiny old man lol.

Thats how you motivate your players..Make the players actually play there ass off so they dont get there asses ripped afterwards...Bob knight has a winning attitude and makes the players try there damndest to win.

@cebrough You're an idiot Just like the other guy. When was the 3 point line established? How long after it was established did it take Knight to win a national championship? The teams of old would destroy our teams now. They stand there, do nothing and play no defense. We don't have anyone that has the stamina to follow Alford around. The likes of Chris Reynolds and Greg Graham would have a field day with inability to pass with Hulls and Jones. Kids might be more athletic but they are lazy

@cebrough Interesting perspective. Compare Knight to Dean Smith, who was able to adapt to rule changes (including the three point shot, which he opposed). Smith led his Tarheels to two national championships, in 1982 and 1993, and the game was so different after that 11 years as to be unrecognizable.

As a proud IU alum from the Knight years I can say that Bobby Knight is still raging egomaniac and an embarrassment to IU. He was a great coach until the early 80s but the game and its players passed him by because he was utterly unadaptable and stuck in his own self-righteous worldview and the past. He's a contemptible man who is a part of history but has little relevance to the game as it's played today. Any Power Five team would crush the vaunted 70s teams today.

This is supposed to be FUCKING inspirational?!

@JayGatsbyOdysseus Probably a little of everything. Just wasn't a good fit for him at IU. Knight was a master coach but i do believe he suppressed some his his players talents, for better or worse. You're right in that Bird needed freedom and Knight would have wanted him playing his way. Anyways, didn't want to sound like i was ragging on you, so sry if it came across that way. Kent Benson just does that to people i suppose lol.
I think Coach Knight was fair, sounds reasonable actually
